I am an integrative therapist offering counselling sessions in-person and online.
I work with adults and young people across a range of issues and concerns, and offer a caring, confidential place where you can focus on your life and your story. I provide both short and long-term therapy.
There are many reasons for seeking counselling. You might want support with something specific like a relationship, a difficult decision to be made, or to cope with a loss or traumatic experience. Perhaps you want to explore more generally who and where you are in life, or you might just need a space to express your thoughts and feelings, to talk and be heard.
How I work
I have an open, conversational style and use different counselling approaches to suit each person and their situation. As well as working from counselling traditions such as humanistic, existential, psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioural, I am trained in blending elements of coaching into therapy. This combination allows for a depth of exploration and reflection, for example, identifying patterns in your life, or drawing connections between your past and present, whilst also supporting more active, dynamic and future-focused work where relevant.
Everyone is different and there are no set outcomes for therapy. For some people simply talking can provide relief and this may be enough. For others, our sessions may lead to a better understanding of themselves, and help them live more comfortably and wholly within their circumstances, whilst others are actively looking to make changes and may develop particular goals to work towards. If you’re unsure what you want from therapy, we can explore this together. My approach is collaborative and your needs and best interests will always be at the heart of our work.
I have worked across a range of experiences and concerns including anxiety, depression, loss, low self-esteem, identity, relationship difficulties, sexual issues, work and career-related issues, parenting, abuse and trauma. My clients are from diverse social and cultural backgrounds, and I have experience of providing therapy in a variety of settings including the charity sector and educational institutions. I have worked with individuals with Autistic Spectrum Conditions and ADHD.
Before becoming a counsellor I was a teacher in colleges and schools across London. I have an understanding of the pressures facing young people and their families, and the impact that working in demanding environments can have on health and well-being.
I am a registered member of the BACP and work within their Ethical Framework.
