About Me
I’m Steffany, a UKCP-registered trainee psychotherapist in Biodynamic Body Psychotherapy. I begin from a place of compassion and curiosity. I believe that even in our most challenging states, there is a deep wisdom from within. I work holistically with the body, mind, and spirit.
My Approach
Biodynamic therapy uses three primary modalities: talking therapy, psychotherapeutic massage, and vegeto-therapy. Each session begins through conversation, then depending on what is needed, we might stay with talking, move to the massage table, or shift into a comfortable position for guided ‘dynamic relaxation.’
Our work together is a collaborative process, creating a pace and place where you can explore and unfold. This therapeutic approach aims to work within the window of tolerance by befriending resistance, allowing you to feel safe enough so that defences can melt and a psychodynamic process emerges from within the body.
When we decide to move to the massage table, I will use a stethoscope to listen to the sounds in your belly. In the late 1950s, Norwegian psychotherapist Gerda Boyesen theorised that the sounds of psycho-peristalsis discharge psychological and physical distress by clearing away residual stress hormones and facilitating the body’s natural capacity for self-regulation and equilibrium.
When we work with vegetotherapy, you’ll be invited to get comfortable and turn your focus inward. This allows unconscious energy to move into your awareness, leading to spontaneous movement, directed actions, or thoughtful images. From this place, physical, emotional, and mental blockages can be released, giving you more access to your authentic self.
After a Biodynamic therapy session, clients often comment on feeling grounded and clear, experiencing energetic streaming in their body, a sense of lightness or expansiveness, or gaining insightful self-compassion and connection.
